Commercial HVAC and renewable energy specialist Oakes Energy Services has announced a new strategic partnership with MTFD, expanding access to innovative funding solutions that will accelerate the deployment of green energy assets for customers across the UK.
This collaborative alliance brings together North East-based Oakes’ expertise in commercial HVAC and renewable technologies with MTFD’s established capability in delivering development, framework and financial solutions designed to secure long-term, sustainable funding.
Through the partnership, customers will benefit from fully funded Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and asset finance solutions, supporting the rollout of low-carbon technologies including LED lighting, solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), air and ground source heat pumps (ASHP and GSHP), combined heat and power (CHP), electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and small wind turbines.
At a time when many organisations face financial and operational barriers to decarbonisation, the partnership offers tailored leasing programmes and PPAs that remove upfront capital costs and ongoing administrative burdens. Under the model, MTFD provide the upfront development of the projects from initial funding offer through the funders pre requisites, DNO and planning, the funder owns and finances the asset, while Oakes delivers a complete end-to-end service from design and installation through to operation.
In addition to PPAs, MTFD’s framework solutions include Combined Heat & Power Energy as a Service and Heat as a Service Energy Savings Agreements, enabling customers to realise guaranteed savings throughout the contract term.
Oakes Energy Services, headquartered in Houghton-le-Spring, brings 19 years of experience and a strong reputation for delivering high-quality renewable installations, managing projects seamlessly from initial survey through to final commissioning. The business benefits from solid financial backing as part of PHS Home Solutions, whose ultimate parent company is Viessmann, the German engineering giant celebrating its 107th anniversary this year.
The new partnership with MTFD has already accelerated the delivery of several major renewable energy projects across the UK.
Nik Smith, Managing Director of Oakes Energy Services, said: “This partnership with MTFD marks an exciting and highly complementary collaboration. In the short time we have been working together, their team has demonstrated exceptional expertise in renewable energy development and funding. The upfront capital investment and ongoing maintenance requirements of green technologies can often slow decision-making, but this partnership removes those barriers unlocking the funding needed to accelerate projects from concept to construction.
“Together, we offer a fully integrated, end-to-end solution covering project scoping, funding approval, planning, delivery and final handover. Even at this early stage of collaboration, we have already seen significant momentum and success within the funded renewables market.
“Beyond the individual green technology solutions we provide, our unique blended model combining Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Heat as a Service (HaaS) delivers a fully funded, end-to-end decarbonisation solution. By enabling on-site energy generation, we help remove the traditional ‘spark gap’ challenge between gas and electricity pricing.
“At a time when access to government grants for commercial renewable technologies remains uncertain, organisations are under increasing pressure and in some cases regulatory obligation to reduce their carbon footprint. Our model provides a clear pathway to decarbonisation without placing additional capital or financial strain on the customer.
“Our financial solutions provide energy at competitive fixed rates and can deliver savings of up to 50%, shielding organisations from the volatility of global energy markets whilst significantly reducing their carbon footprint.”
Bradley Martin, Managing Director of MTFD, said: “We are excited to partner with Oakes Energy Services to accelerate the rollout of renewable energy projects across the UK. By combining our project development and funding frameworks with Oakes’ proven installation and delivery capabilities, we are removing the biggest barriers organisations face, which include upfront capital costs, planning, DNO approvals and ongoing asset management.
These collaborations enable us to deliver truly end-to-end, fully funded solutions, helping businesses achieve savings and carbon reductions without any restrictions on capital.”
