Specialist renewables and home improvements company, PHS Solutions has commenced work on a landmark 10-year partnership with North East housing provider Gentoo Group.

The partnership, known as “Gentogether”, unites Gentoo with PHS Solutions, ESH Construction and RE:GEN Group to improve the sustainability of thousands of homes across the North East. The initiative is designed to benefit residents by lowering energy bills while reducing carbon emissions.

Representatives from PHS Solutions, Gentoo, members of the Gentoo Customer Board and Committee, as well as supply chain partners, celebrated the start of the programme during the launch of the partnership. The gathering also reaffirmed a shared commitment to ensuring social value is delivered alongside much-needed housing improvements.

Speakers highlighted the importance of providing a first-class service for all customers, giving them a central voice in shaping services, and strengthening collaboration between strategic partners to deliver long-term community benefits.

A key moment of the day was the signing of a Customer Pledge, a symbolic commitment from all partners to uphold the Gentoo Customer Promise and ensure that residents remain at the heart of every decision. The pledge board, which has been signed by all those involved in the project, will be displayed on site as a daily reminder of this collective responsibility.

‘Gentogether’ is a commitment to people, places, and the planet. The initiative is expected to generate  more than £32 million in social value, designed to benefit local communities by creating employment and supporting long-term economic growth in the region.

Adam Holdsworth, Capital Works Contract Manager at PHS, said: “Signing the Gentogether pledge demonstrates our promise to listen, respond, and deliver the best possible outcomes for customers every day. We are looking forward to working with Gentoo’s customers and making the improvements to their homes”

Brenda Naisby, Customer Board Member said: “Gentoo customers have been at the heart of the Gentogether partnership from the very beginning — shaping ideas, guiding planning, and supporting the launch. It’s been fantastic to be part of this journey. The Customer Promise truly reflects how committed Gentoo and its partners are to putting customers first. I’m excited to see the partnership work unfold and to hear feedback from everyone involved.”
